The World Première of Hefti's new chamber music piece Magma – sparks of sound for violin, viola and cello will take place on 7th May 2014 in Geneva at the Salle Ernest Ansermet. The performers are the Swiss Chamber Soloists with Esther Hoppe (violin), Jürg Dähler (viola) und Thomas Grossenbacher (cello). |World première of Hefti's new Adagio – Beziehungsweisen für Orchester in Montréal|
On 4 and 5 March 2014, David Philip Hefti's newest orchestra work Adagio – Beziehungsweisen für Orchester will be premiered at the Maison symphonique in Montreal. Kent Nagano, whom the composition is dedicated to, will conduct the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Later that month, the piece will be performed on tour to Switzerland: 11 March (Zurich, Tonhalle), 12 March (Bern, Kulturcasino); 13 March (Geneva, Victoria Hall).

A double portrait - David Philip Hefti both as a composer and conductor - has been released by the col legno label in the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation's series. Five of the most recent compositions for orchestra (Éclairs, Moments lucides, Changements, Gegenklang & Klangbogen) have been recorded by the top orchestras German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Ensemble Modern.

|David Philip Hefti receives the Composer's Prize awarded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation|
David Philip Hefti receives one of the three prestigious Composers' Prizes awarded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
In addition to receiving financial support, the winners of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation’s Composers’ Prize will be supported with the production of their own portrait CD. On this CD, David Philip Hefti conducts his works himself - with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern, Ensemble Modern and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.
The prize has been presented to Hefti as part of a musical ceremony to be held in the Prinzregententheater, Munich, on June 4, 2013. The board of trustees of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, which includes the composers Helmut Lachenmann, Wolfgang Rihm and Peter Ruzicka sees Hefti as being one of the most important up-and-coming young composers.
